Dr. Mitchell Marder - Biological and holistic dentist, 26 years of experience

I grew up in the Chicago area and attended Northwestern University, graduating with honors with a degree in Biology in 1977. I was fortunate enough to work in an endocrinology lab as an undergraduate and published an article relating to birth control hormones. This stimulated an interest in research and basic science that laid the groundwork for critical thinking and constant questioning.

I went to dental school at the University of Illinois in Chicago, graduating in 1981. My wife was in graduate school at the UW, so we moved to Seattle directly after graduation.

I did research and taught at the UW School of Dentistry from 1981 through 1989. My practice opened in the University District in 1982, but my philosophy of practice changed to holistic and natural dentistry in 1987.
Since then, I have not placed a silver filling, believing that mercury has no place in the body and that we are all better off without it.

Since graduating dental school, I have studied extensively in the fields of dentistry, including occlusion, orthodontics, TMJ / pain, cosmetics, and mercury removal techniques. Outside of dental areas, I have also studied in the areas of toxicology, energy medicine, cranial therapy, massage, nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, naturopathic medicine, and acupuncture.

The three major areas of my practice currently are non-surgical regenerative periodontal treatment, bio-compatible mercury removal and toxicology treatment, and TMJ / head / neck pain treatment. We often speak with patients regarding general health and how their dental status may be involved in a general fashion.

I am married to my wife of 27 years and we have two teenage daughters.
